Centrahoma, Oklahoma

Formerly called Owl, in Coal County, located 8 miles northwest of Coalgate,
The post office name changed to Centrahoma, June 11, 1907.
The name was coined from the phrase, central Oklahoma.

Owl, Oklahoma

Formally called Byrd, located 9 miles northwest of Coalgate.
The post office name changed to Owl, July 10, 1894
On July 11, 1907, the post office was moved a few miles northeast and the name changed to Centrahoma.
Owl took it's name from the nearby Owl Creek, a branch of Leader Creek,
a tributary of the Clear Boggy River.

Byrd, Oklahoma

In Coal County, located 9 miles northwest of Coalgate.
The post office was established March 3, 1892,
and named for William L. Byrd, governor of the Chickasaw Nation.
The name changed to Owl, July 10, 1894.
