Rhoades Dies at Age 63....
Ponca City News..August 28, 1966.....
Mrs. Blance Rhoades, 63, wife of Warren B. Rhoades, died this morning
in the Oklahoma Medical Research Center, where she had been a patient
since August 5. She had been ill since the middle of July.
Mrs. Rhoades was born June 7, 1903 at Pawnee, the daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Jacob Hazelbaker. She received her education at Pawnee
and as a young woman moved to Tonkawa.
On Nov. 12. 1926 she was married to Warren B. Rhoades at Perry
and they established their home in Tonkawa, where they lived for 30 years
before coming to Ponca City.
She was a member of the First Christian Church. Art was her
hobby and she worked in oil, charcoal and pen and ink.
Surviving her are her husband of the home, 519 South Second, a
daughter, Mrs. Bonita Riger of Dewey, one brother, Harvey Hazelbaker of
Long Beach; four sisters, Mrs. Alma Ireland of Orange Cove, Calif and
Mrs. Okla Cather, Mrs. Opal Sneed and Mrs. Florence Byers of Pawnee and
four grand children.
Mrs. Rhoades was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the Grace
Memorial Chapel with Lewis Corporon, associate minister of the First Christian
Church, officiating.
Burial will be in the Rest Haven Memorial Park Cemetery.
The casket will not be opened at the service. Friends may drop by
the funeral home up until time for the service.
